free vintage knitting pattern 1940s

Free pattern: Marcia, a 1940s jumper by Myers

Oh I miss the days when Myers used to sell wool and craft supplies! (Myers is similar to Macy’s or Nordstroms). My Nan said that you could take your unfinished knits into Myers and they would seam it up for you, or finish the knitted bands off, fancy that.

I’m lucky enough to remember buying zips and thread at Myers Perth when I was 18 or so, the department closed down soon after though. This pattern dates from the 1940s, and comes from a knitting pattern booklet produced by Myers.

Marcia looks fancy, but is actually knit from alternated bands of ribbing.
