Free Pattern: Derrick pullover or vest, c. late 1930s
I recently won a stash of earlier Patons Knitting magazines on eBay – and Jakk pounced on this gorgeous fair-isle number from Specialty Knitting No. 87. We both really love the variety of knitting patterns available for men in the late 1930s – so much more daring than now!
Originally it would have been knit in a natural shade, with green and red-ochre contrast. It also has options for sleeveless or long sleeves.
- Yarn: fingering weight
- To fit: 38″ around chest

I know this is an old post, but I just found it. I LOVE the stacked triangles – they’re almost scaly or pinecone-ish.
This might need to be my next sweater.
