Curvy Month 10: Mrs Exeter Shirtwaist dress, 1950s

I’ve hopefully saved the best for last!

This shirtwaist dress knitting pattern is a ‘Mrs Exeter’ – a ficticional character created by Vogue during the early 1950s.

She had a regular fashion column, with the designs appealing to the more mature but still highly fashionable reader. The articles were so popular that in 1954 Vogue actually released Mrs Exeter sewing patterns. This is the first time I’ve found a Mrs Exeter knitting pattern though – so I was really excited to share it with you!

The pattern features everything you expect from a Vogue Knitting pattern: flattering ribbed skirt, well finished button band, contrast trim and a fashionable sailor collar. I hope you enjoy it!
