Free pattern: Men’s Argyle Vest and Socks c. 1948
Today’s free vintage knitting pattern is a men’s (or masculine person’s) pattern! It’s been a really long time since I’ve posted something masculine so I hope you enjoy it.
I’ve always meant to knit an argyle vest for Jakk, perhaps I’ll use this pattern!
- To fit: 34-36 inch, and 38-40 chests (there is about 1-2 inches ease in the pattern).
- Yarn: fingering
- Needles: US 1 and 2, metric 2.25 and 2.75mm
- Published in: Columbia Handknits in Nylon Volume 115, c. 1948

Hmmm, I’ve never knitted Argyle before but I have always loved the look of it. Maybe?!

I’m intrigued by this pattern, but the argyle chart appears to be missing so I don’t think I can try it.

Hi. I can see there.is a pattern here, but too small for.me to see and no apparent way to enlarge or download. Any clues would be welcome.
Thanks
