Curvy Month Pattern 7: A French Tailleur (suit) in wool, c. 1948

Today’s free vintage knitting pattern is a tailleur (literally, a woman’s tailor made suit) from the Australian Women’s Weekly Knitting Book for 1948.

This lovely suit features a nipped in waist, cable accented pockets and yoke plus strong shoulders. The sleeves are slightly dolman also, that lovely late 1940s military influence.

The skirt is knitted in pleats. It’s so versatile apparently, perfect for the young miss and the matron!

  • To fit: 32-34, 36 and 38-40 inch busts (three sizes)
  • Yarn: fingering weight
  • Needles: UK 10, metric 3mm
