Curvy Pattern 2: A thick-knit jumper with blanket trim c. 1956

I’m really getting into my thicker knits at the moment, it must be our Australian winter inspiring me to make cozy knits.

Today’s free Curvy Month knitting pattern is from F.W. Hughes, who also published Sun-Glo. I’ve been able to date this issue to 1956 through Trove, the same year Australia held the Olympics in Melbourne. Why is this relevent? Well it explains why the original is suggested to be knitted in ‘Olympic Tan’ with black trim!

I really love the deceptively simple stitch, combined with fitted waist and contrast trim – I hope you like it too!

  • To fit: 38″, 40″ and 42″ busts
  • Yarn: Double knitting
  • Needles: UK 8 and 11, metric 3mm and 4mm
  • Published in: F W Hughes no. 206
