Cute as a Wink (hat and gloves), c. 1940s

Its getting so lovely and fresh here in the mornings, so close to Winter that I’m getting excited about wearing knits again.

Looking through my knitting books for inspiration, I came across this sweet little hat and gloves combo – I hope you like it! It’s from Woman’s World Knitting, circa 1940s.

It’s knit using fingering weight yarn and  3.75mm DPNs for the hat, and 2.75mm DPNs for the gloves. Enjoy!

    Hi,
I love your blog which I found by looking up lesbian sewing blogs. Great to know of yet another girly girl, especially one with such great personal style.

You had me looking for plus sized vintage dress patterns even, today!
I even found a Kiwi online store that sells plus sized vintage. Still think I am going to have to make my own though as I am really tall and extra curvy. Plus older than you, but bugger it why not have fun. I am so bored with my clothes.
Loved your collection of vintage brooches… If I spot cute things in op shops here in nz I will remember I now know of someone who loves them.

They really are – I especially love how the gloves have a borderline gauntlet cuff going on.

Just found your blog by following links starting at a historic costume blog I enjoy. Too many pages looked at to remember which had your site. (I also follow Jessica from Chronically Vintage). I tried to subscribe by email but it said that was not enabled. Thought should let you know, hopefully it's a mistake.

I do love this sweet crochet set, those gloves are too darling with that gauntlet-esque lace cuff. Thank you for sharing! ❤
