Dapper Month 3: A Fair Isle Ski sweater, c. 1963
So the Sixties is later than I normally knit from – but this pattern is Jakk’s favourite jumper. Period. Ever. I’m even having to make another one because Jakk is going to wear it out.

The pattern knits up quickly, and looks perfect for different eras – 30s through to 50s. You wouldn’t know it was a pattern from 1963!
The yarn I’ve used is Bendigo Wool Mills Luxury 8ply for the main, and Morris and Sons Estate 8ply for the contrast.

Since Jakk is helping curate Dapper Month, I should probably share the pattern for their favourite jumper right?
- To fit: 38-39 inch chest (finished size is 44 inches)
- Yarn: DK/8-ply
- Needles: UK 7, 8 and 10. Metric 4.5mm, 4mm and 3.25mm
- Published: Stitchcraft Magazine 357, Sept. 1963

Hi and thank you for republishing this amazing pattern. I’m trying to calculate the amount of brown yarn I’d need to complete this and my converter is saying an incredible 2,409gms….. I’m in Australia so will also be using BWM 200 gm balls.
How much did you use please, to make this fair aisle Dapper sweater?
Thank you so very much.
